Feb 18, 2025

Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava is quickly becoming Bollywood’s first major hit of 2025. After a strong debut and a successful opening weekend, the film surpassed a key milestone by passing the critical first Monday test, earning Rs 24 crore nett. While this marked a 50.52% drop from its Sunday collections, the film still outperformed the earnings of other recent Hindi releases on their first Mondays.

On Monday, Chhaava earned nearly double the combined earnings of the next seven top Hindi films on their first Mondays, including Sky Force (Rs 7 crore) and Deva (Rs 2.75 crore). With this performance, the film’s domestic total now stands at Rs 140.5 crore, while its global gross is Rs 164.75 crore. Produced on a budget of Rs 130 crore, Chhaava has already made back its costs and surpassed its budget comfortably.

The film also maintained a solid occupancy rate of 31.62% across the day, with strong showings during evening and night screenings. With Chhaava, Rashmika Mandanna has achieved her fourth consecutive theatrical success, following Varisu (2023), Animal (2023), and Pushpa 2: The Rule (2024).

Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava is based on the life of Maratha king Sambhaji and adapted from the Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant.
