Chunky Panday Reveals Ananya Panday Was “Uncomfortable” Doing Liger
Ananya Panday’s father, actor Chunky Panday, revealed that his daughter felt “uncomfortable” and “confused” about joining Liger (2022), which also starred Vijay Deverakonda. In an interview, Chunky shared that Ananya, being young at the time, was unsure about taking part in the project. Despite her hesitation, he encouraged her to go for it, citing the film’s commercial potential. However, after Liger‘s disappointing box office performance, Chunky stopped advising her on career choices.
Chunky admitted that, being “old-school,” he would have discouraged Ananya from joining the Prime Video series Call Me Bae, as he believed heroines should be part of films with songs, dances, and fight sequences. Despite this, he now refrains from pressuring her into any decisions.
Liger, directed by Puri Jagannadh, marked Vijay Deverakonda’s Hindi debut, while Call Me Bae, where Ananya played the lead role, has been well-received by audiences. Ananya’s upcoming projects include the second season of Call Me Bae and a film with Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan.
