Internet Criticizes Udit Narayan for “Offensive” Comments About Archana Puran Singh and Kumar Sanu, Old Video Surfaces Online
New Delhi – Udit Narayan is facing significant online backlash after a video of him kissing female fans during a live concert went viral. The footage shows him performing Tip Tip Barsa Paani and kissing the fans on the lips after taking photos, which has sparked outrage on social media.
In addition to this, another viral clip from The Kapil Sharma Show (now The Great Indian Kapil Show) shows Udit making an inappropriate comment about Archana Puran Singh. While chatting with fellow singers Kumar Sanu and Anuradha Paudwal, Udit calls Archana “moti” (fat) and jokes that her appearance makes things complicated, humorously suggesting that it’s the reason Kumar Sanu is fond of her. He also made light of Kumar Sanu’s alleged relationship with Alka Yagnik, further mocking Sanu’s frequent calls to her.
The 2021 episode also includes Udit’s father making controversial remarks about Archana and Alka Yagnik. At one point, Kumar Sanu humorously compared Udit to the controversial Asaram Bapu, leading to a teasing exchange between the two.
Social media users criticized Udit for his “crass” comments, calling his behavior “disgusting” and “shameful.” One user commented, “Udit ji, these things don’t suit you,” while another wrote, “And then he has the guts to call himself a ‘decent’ man.”
In response to the kissing controversy, Udit defended his actions in an interview with Hindustan Times, stating that fans’ enthusiasm often leads to such behavior. He explained that it was an expression of love from fans and shouldn’t be blown out of proportion, emphasizing that he and his team are “decent people” and that such actions are driven by fan craziness.
Udit Narayan is a celebrated singer known for his work in various languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali, with numerous iconic songs from films like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Rangeela, and Veer-Zaara. He has won multiple National Film Awards throughout his career.
