Singer Elina Chauhan and Bishnu Sapkota Finalize Divorce
Kathmandu – Singer Elina Chauhan and Bishnu Sapkota have officially divorced. The Kathmandu District Court finalized their divorce case on Tuesday.
According to court spokesperson Deepak Kumar Shrestha, the decision was issued by Judge Mona Singh’s bench, with both parties agreeing to separate without any claim to alimony or property division.
Bishnu Sapkota’s father represented him in court, while Chauhan had filed for divorce in mid-January. She submitted her case through her legal representative, Bishnu Prasad Kharel, at the Kathmandu District Court.
Elina Chauhan had married Baglung native Bishnu Sapkota in April last year.
In her petition, Chauhan stated that, as an artist, her work often required her to attend events late into the night, which led to suspicions and misunderstandings from her husband. She also mentioned that after their wedding, she moved to Australia to live with her husband. While things were initially fine, their relationship soon became strained, prompting her to return to Nepal.
Chauhan explained that since they were unable to maintain an emotional bond, it was not right to remain married in name only, leading her to seek a legal separation.
