Legendary composer AR Rahman has been hospitalized at Chennai’s Apollo Hospital after feeling unwell upon his return from London.

According to his spokesperson, the Oscar-winning musician visited the hospital for a check-up after experiencing discomfort. Doctors later confirmed that dehydration, likely worsened by fasting for Ramzan, was the cause.

“He returned from London yesterday and wasn’t feeling well, so he went to the hospital for a check-up. The doctors confirmed it was due to dehydration,” the spokesperson told NDTV.

Despite the brief health scare, sources close to Rahman have reassured fans that he is recovering well.

The music maestro has been in the headlines recently following his divorce from wife Saira Banu after 29 years of marriage. The couple, who share three children—AR Ameen, Khatija Rahman, and Raheema Rahman—announced their separation last year.

Following the announcement, Rahman shared a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter), expressing the emotional toll of the breakup. “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter,” he wrote.

Fans worldwide are sending their love and prayers for his speedy recovery.
