Kathmandu – Two posters for the film PR: Permanent Resident, set to be produced under the banner of Salon Salina Films, have been released. Directed by Shobhit Basnet, this will be his 31st feature film.

Basnet, who began his directorial career 27 years ago with Rajkumar, last directed Badri Bahadur. Currently in Australia for the film’s pre-production work, Basnet unveiled the posters from there.

The film, presented by Ranjit Shah’s RFM Facility Management Australia and Lane-Way Dumplings Sydney, is set to begin filming on February 11. The posters feature the cast and additional details about the film.

The poster showcases actors RA Suraj Paudel, Vinita Karki, Ashma Adhikari, Pooja Chaudhary, and Rajan Kunwar. These actors were selected through auditions, according to director Basnet.

Basnet shared that the film will focus on the struggles of Nepali people in Australia seeking Permanent Residency (PR). “I am making this film based on real events experienced by Nepali people in Australia. It will also tell the story of the conflict between the expectations of parents back home in Nepal and the aspirations of those living in Australia,” Basnet said in an online interview with Online Khabar from Sydney.

Filming will take place in various cities across Australia, with about 25% of the shoot planned in Nepal. “We held auditions for 400 people for this film, from which we selected five actors,” he mentioned.

Pradeep Dahal of Evan Group Services and Lakshman Sapkota of Indreni Group will serve as producers, with Ganesh KC from Asia Pacific E-College as the executive producer. The music will be by Manas Raj, with Shobhit Basnet providing the story, and the screenplay and dialogue will be written by Ganesh Budhathoki.
