Rukum Maikot Sets New Record: Fastest Nepali Song to Hit 100 Million YouTube Views
Kathmandu – The Nepali film Khusma’s song “Rukum Maikot” continues to set new records. Composed by SD Yogi, the song has become the first Nepali track to reach 100 million views on YouTube in the shortest time.
As per Nepali time, the song achieved this milestone on Wednesday night. Released 23 weeks ago, Rukum Maikot made history by trending globally on YouTube for one and a half months during the Nepali months of Asoj and Kartik.
Previously, the record for the fastest 100 million views for a Nepali song was held by Sali Manparyo from the movie Ghamad Shere. However, Rukum Maikot broke this record in less than six months, making it a tough benchmark for future Nepali songs to surpass.
The song features music by SD Yogi, vocals by Yogi and Shanti Shree Pariyar, and lyrics by Surendra Rana. As of now, Rukum Maikot has topped the YouTube streaming charts in Nepal for the past year. Last week, it was ranked fourth on YouTube’s trending chart.
In the last week of January, the song was the third most-watched video in Nepal, garnering nearly 1.8 million views in just one week. YouTube data indicates that Rukum Maikot has gained more views from abroad than from Nepal, with a significant audience from Assam, Siliguri, and Guwahati—regions with a large Nepali-speaking population in India.
Actor Dhiraj Magar, who starred in the song’s video, expressed his excitement about surpassing the 100 million mark. He also noted that Rukum Maikot has become immensely popular on TikTok, with numerous videos created using the song, further boosting its visibility across social media.
