Justin Baldoni Uses Co-Star’s Text to Counter Blake Lively’s Harassment Claims
The legal feud between It Ends With Us director and star Justin Baldoni and actress Blake Lively has taken another turn. Baldoni has reportedly submitted a text message from their co-star, Isabela Ferrer, as evidence in court, claiming it proves he fostered a positive environment on set.
What’s Happening?
In January, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment during the film’s production. Shortly after, Baldoni countersued both Lively and her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, for civil extortion and defamation.
In an updated filing, Baldoni included a message sent by Ferrer in July 2023, after she wrapped up her work on It Ends With Us. In the text, Ferrer allegedly expressed gratitude and admiration for Baldoni, stating that working with him was a “joy” and that she felt inspired by his direction.
Baldoni’s Argument
Baldoni claims the message is proof that the cast and crew originally had no issues with him. He alleges that Lively influenced the team against him after gaining more control over the project during post-production. According to Baldoni, this led to his exclusion from promotional materials, social media distancing from cast members, and even author Colleen Hoover cutting ties with him.
The Bigger Picture
The controversy surrounding It Ends With Us has overshadowed its upcoming release. While Lively has remained largely silent since filing the lawsuit, Ferrer has yet to publicly address the case.
As the legal battle unfolds, it remains to be seen how this evidence will impact the court proceedings and the public perception of both stars.
