This Week’s New Film Releases in Nepal: A Blend of Horror, Drama, and Action

Kathmandu – Starting this Friday, four new films—three Nepali and one foreign—have been released in Nepalese cinemas. The Nepali films Sarang, Juna, and Mummy hit the screens alongside the Hindi-language film Badass Ravi Kumar. These Nepali films span different genres and themes, offering audiences a variety of choices based on their preferences.

Mummy: A Horror-Thriller for Mature Audiences
Mummy is an adult-rated film, restricted to viewers under 17. With a runtime of 124 minutes, the film falls into the thriller and horror genres. Directed by Samar Nirola, it stars Priyanka Karki, Diya Maske, Sulakshyan Bharti, and Ayushi Dhakal. The story revolves around mysterious events that unfold in a household after a pet dog is killed and replaced by a black cat. If you’re a fan of horror thrillers, this film could be worth watching.

Juna: A Social Drama on Child Marriage and Women’s Rights
With a runtime of 105 minutes, Juna is suitable for all age groups. The film highlights the issues of child marriage and violence against women, making it a compelling social and family drama. Directed by Jeevan Century, the cast includes Asmita Dhakal, Krishna Prasad Dhakal, Deshbhakta Khanal, Rashmi Bhatt, Kamal Bohara, Asmita Basnet, Khagendra Neupane, Bikash Anand, Indra Bik, and Keshav Adhikari.

Sarang: A Psychological Drama Exploring Family Separation
Sarang runs for 128 minutes and is also open to viewers of all ages. Directed by Prashant Tamang, the film features Richa Sharma, Utpal Jha, Aditya Karki, and Samrat Thapa. The storyline delves into the psychological impact of parental separation on children, making it a thought-provoking drama.

Bollywood Release: Badass Ravi Kumar
Alongside these Nepali releases, Bollywood’s Badass Ravi Kumar has also premiered this Friday. Directed by Keith Gomes, the film stars Sunny Leone, Kirti Kulhari, and Himesh Reshammiya. With a runtime of 142 minutes, the movie has received a PG rating.

Meanwhile, Purnabahadurko Sarangi is celebrating its 100th day in theaters this Friday, and Actor: Take One has entered its second week of screening.
