Saif Ali Khan Explains Why Taimur Took Him to the Hospital Instead of Kareena Kapoor After Knife Attack: “My Son Was Composed…”

Last month, Saif Ali Khan was attacked in his home by an intruder during a botched robbery attempt. The actor was stabbed six times in the back, with one knife blade lodging dangerously close to his spine, requiring two major surgeries. While many expressed support, some questioned the incident’s authenticity. Saif recently shared chilling details of the attack, revealing he fought the armed assailant alone until his house help intervened. He admitted that a more severe injury to his neck or spine could have left him paralyzed.

In an interview with The Times of India, Saif explained why his elder son, Taimur, accompanied him to the hospital instead of his wife, Kareena Kapoor. He praised Taimur’s composure, saying, “He was fine and insisted on coming with me. I felt comforted by his presence. Kareena sent him, knowing he’d be a source of strength for me. If something worse had happened, I wanted him there.” Meanwhile, Kareena took their younger son, Jeh, to her sister Karisma Kapoor’s home.

Saif recounted that he and Kareena were asleep when their house help alerted them to an intruder in Jeh’s room around 2 a.m. Rushing to the scene, Saif found a masked man armed with sharp blades standing over Jeh’s bed. Acting on instinct, Saif grabbed the intruder, but the attacker retaliated, stabbing him multiple times in the back and neck. Saif recalled, “I couldn’t handle it anymore. I prayed for someone to help.” Their house help, Geeta, intervened and pulled the attacker away.

Saif managed to lock the intruder in Jeh’s room, but the assailant escaped through a drainpipe in the bathroom. At the hospital, Saif learned the severity of his injuries: a four-inch blade had penetrated his shoulder blade, narrowly missing his spinal cord. Doctors warned that a fraction more could have caused paralysis. The injury caused spinal fluid leakage and temporary leg numbness. Saif underwent a six-hour surgery to address the life-threatening wounds.

The incident highlights Saif’s bravery and the quick actions of his house help, which potentially saved his life.
