Pashupati Prasad Movie Review
Rating: 3 ( Out of 5 )

This will be unfair to the movie – Pashupati Prasad if we portray and compare Pashupati Prasad with Hollywood and Bollywood movies. But its story is not less than their movies. Pashupati Prasad actually deserves more honor by mass number of low class people of remote Nepal. However, there are also weakness in some elements of the movie.

As it starts, it feels like we are not watching feature film; it seems that we are going to watch a documentary. Almost all of the shots have been filmed in Pashupati area. The leading characters Khagendra Lamichhane, Prakash Ghimire, Bipin Karki have judged their role properly. Mostly, we must salute the act of Prakash Ghimire as a “Mit Ba” of Pashupati Prasad (Khagendra Lamichhane). There is nothing special events about the name Pashupati Prasad. In fact, Pashupati Prasad’s parents had not got any child for long time; meanwhile, Pashupati Prasad’s “Mit Ba” suggested his father to pray to the Pashupatinath. After that, Pashupati Prasad was born. Hence, he was named Pashupati Prasad and so the title of movie. Despite of being a leading actress, Barsha Sivakoti do not have any specific representative character in the movie. However, she has also given justice to her role.
In the starting, the movie seems quite slow in humor and sentimental parts. The more time leaves, the more we see comedy and sentimental parts.
There is nothing ambitious aims of Pashupati Prasad. He just wants to earn money which is enough to pay his father’s loan and live his life. In the middle part, there is also a unexpressed love between Pashupati Prasad and Barsha Sivakoti ( as Bunu). Pashupati Prasad does everything but not bad thing to make money. Hanuman avatar also ends interestingly. Vasme, Mit Ba, Budhi Aama, Hanuman and Bunu all they have a specific relation with Pashupati Prasad either that relationship is positively motivated or negatively. Moreover, the ending of the movie makes people sentimental as Pashupati Prasad dies fighting to fulfill his small wish with his own destiny. The characters – Bunu and Aama have been waiting to him, but they do not know about the death of Pashupati Prasad. Eventually, Pashupati Prasad fails to overcome his destiny by fighting with such greedy and self centered community.
Hence, the movie has tried to portray the different characters of a society – kind, selfish and Self centered. Likewise, it also shows how a low class people have to face such big problems to fulfill their small wishes and even die without fulfillment of their wishes.
