Aama – The First Nepali Movie
The History of Nepali Movie which is best known as Kallywood began since 1951 producing the first Nepalese Language movie Satya Harischandra based on the first Hindi Movie Raja Harischandra. Satya Harischandra was directed by DB Pariyaar which was produced from Calcutta, India. But the first Nepali movie which was produced in Nepal is Aama and it was produced in 1964 by Hira Singh Khatri. The Information Department of Government of Nepal was production banner of this movie.
The movie “Aama” has featured Shiva Shankar Manandhar and Bhuvan Chand as in lead roles. The story writer of this movie is Chaitya Devi. The other legend starcasts of this movie are Indra Lal, Basundhara Bhusal, Chaitya Devi, Uttam Nepali, Hari Prasad Rimal, Bimala Kumari, Bhim Bahadur and the director Hira Singh Khatri himself. Balasara was composed music, and Nati Kaji and Shiv Shankar had sung songs in this movie.
This movie was released on 7, October, 1964 (2021, Asoj 22, Wedneday).
